About the role
You take one route and keep it. Same pickups, same order, same arrival time. A passenger assistant usually travels with you.
The work is home-to-school transport for the London Boroughs of Ealing, Harrow and Brent. Most of it is SEND (special educational needs and disabilities). A student who arrives late arrives unsettled, so being on time matters more here than on other driving work.
What you'll do
- Drive a fixed morning and afternoon route on school days, term time.
- Follow the run order on your job sheet. Call the office before you change it.
- Help your PA at the door with seats, harnesses and wheelchair restraints.
- Confirm each run in the Simplaa Staff app so we can pay and bill it.
- Keep your vehicle taxed, insured and MOT'd, and tell us the day anything lapses.
- Take cover runs when you are free.
What you'll need
- A full UK driving licence.
- A private hire (PCO) driver licence and a vehicle private hire licence.
- Valid insurance and MOT for the vehicle you drive.
- An enhanced DBS check. We help you get one if you don't have it.
- The right to work in the UK.
Nice to have
None of these are required. Apply without them.
- Experience driving SEND or council school transport.
- Disability awareness training.
- A wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Pay and benefits
You are a self-employed contractor. We pay you gross, so you handle your own Income Tax and National Insurance.
We pay per route. Each morning or afternoon leg counts as half a trip, at the driver rate set for your route.
Paid by bank transfer. Your remittance shows every run it covers.
What comes with the job
- A permanent route.
- Help with your DBS and licensing paperwork.
- Term-time mornings and afternoons. Your middle of the day is your own.
- We remind you before a document expires, so you don't lose a day's work.
How to apply
Register in the Simplaa Staff app. We review most applications in 1 to 2 working days.
