Passenger Assistant (SEND)
Travel with SEND students on a fixed council route, morning and afternoon.
About the role
You travel with the children. You meet the same students at the same door each morning, settle them, and hand them to school staff. In the afternoon you do it in reverse.
The work is home-to-school transport for the London Boroughs of Ealing, Harrow and Brent. Most of it is SEND (special educational needs and disabilities). These students need the same route and the same faces every day.
What you'll do
- Travel a fixed morning and afternoon route with the same driver, term time.
- Meet each student at their door and secure their seat, harness or wheelchair.
- Follow each student's care plan and keep the run calm.
- Hand over to and from school staff, and tell them anything that changed.
- Confirm each run in the Simplaa Staff app. We can only pay a run you confirm.
- Report incidents, refusals and no-shows to the office the same day.
What you'll need
- An enhanced DBS check. We help you get one if you don't have it.
- Safeguarding, first aid and PA training. We provide these and renew them before they expire.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Availability for both the morning and afternoon run on school days.
- Patience with students who find the day hard.
Nice to have
None of these are required. Apply without them.
- Experience with autism, wheelchair users or behaviour management.
- EpiPen or disability awareness training.
Pay and benefits
You are a self-employed contractor. We pay you gross, so you handle your own Income Tax and National Insurance.
We pay per route. Each morning or afternoon leg counts as half a trip, at the rate set for your route.
Paid by bank transfer. Your remittance shows every run it covers.
